On behalf of the IDF National Committee of Ireland, I would like to welcome you to the IDF Dairy Science & Technology Symposia 2016, Dublin, 11-13th April.
The preparations that have been taking place for the past 2 years are now coming to fruition. I am glad to inform you that 450 participants have already registered for this 3-day event during which time they will hear over 90 speakers, view 160 posters and interact with 17 trade exhibits.
We are pleased to partner with Elsevier in the organisation of a 2-hour programme during the opening plenary session in which invited speakers from academia and industry including 2 young career scientists will attempt to project how current science and technology research is likely to shape dairy product and process innovations over the next 25 years. This takes place on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of Elsevier’s prestigious peer reviewed publication ‘International Dairy Journal’.
During the afternoon of day 1 and for the next 2 days, delegates will be able to move freely between the two parallel IDF Symposia: Concentrated & Dried Milk Products Symposium and Cheese Science & Technology Symposium. In the intervening four years since these IDF symposia were last held abroad, it is now timely for several new technological innovations to be disclosed by contributors from both academia and industry.
Dublin provides an interesting setting for the 2016 symposia as it coincides with the centenary of a significant moment in Irish history - the Easter Rising 1916. Visitors will also have the opportunity to view commemorative historical exhibits that have been prepared throughout the city.
We look forward to your participation and engagement throughout this unique 3-day event.
Dr. Noel Cawley
